It's designed with metric and imperial measurements so it can be used as a ruler so it's an excellent choice for carpenters and contractors. The pencil works by leaving a graphite line on paper just like a regular traditional wooden pencil, but it wears down slowly so it can outlast up to 100 traditional wooden pencils.
